Preaching, Working, Playing

by Marcus Orr on Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

I’ve been pretty busy lately and it’s been awhile since I’ve had a chance to update this site.  So, I thought I’d catch everyone up with what I’ve been doing.

I’ve been providing pulpit supply in some local churches.  In the past few months, I’ve preached at Edgewood Baptist, North Graham Baptist and Oak Grove Baptist Churches.  I’ll be preaching again at Oak Grove on August 2nd.  I’ve also been contacted about doing a week of teaching at local Bible conference.  Hopefully, more details on that will be coming soon!

The end of Spring and beginning of Summer were packed with law enforcement training.  I barely worked through May and June due to training.  I had firearms combat course training, driver’s training, annual certification, PIT Training (see previous post) and attended the U.S. Attorney’s Domestic Violence Conference.  I’m excited to be involved in the Alamance County Family Justice Center project, which may be getting off the ground pretty soon.  It looks like renovations will start at the end of September and we may move into our new facility by April 2010.

I’ve even found some time for a few things at home.  I built a pretty cool, built in, revolving bookcase.  I bought a Yamaha V-Star 650cc motorcycle and trailer.  I built a home theater PC.  I also ripped out all of the bushes and plants from in front of our house (which seemed like a good idea at the time).  The house looks sad now and it’s too dry to plant anything else.  I started working on the family genealogy and found some interesting characters in our past.  I bought a couple of guns, but haven’t gotten a chance to shoot them.  It’s been a busy few months!
